GLOVES AND FACEMASKS THAT DESTROY VIRUSES

Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc (AIM: SYM), is pleased to announce that it has received successful test reports from the Laboratory of Virology at the University of Campinas, Brazil (“Unicamp”) on anti-viral nitrile gloves and polypropylene fabric facemasks, made with Symphony’s d2pAM (antimicrobial) technology.

The gloves and facemasks were tested in accordance with ISO 21702-2019 against the Coronavirus strain MHV, genus Betacoronavirus (the same genus and family as SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2/COVID19 and MERS).

The d2pAM glove showed a 99.99% virus-reduction after only one hour of contact.  The d2pAM facemask showed a 99% virus-reduction after one hour of contact, and 99.9% after two hours.

The same tests were performed on a glove and a facemask without d2pAM, and no virucidal effect was detected.

Symphony’s CEO, Michael Laurier, said “These test results are a major breakthrough for Symphony.  As the anti-microbial properties are embedded in the material, they will not wear off, and are therefore much better than spraying or wiping.

The masks are already available, and Symphony expect to supply the gloves during the second quarter of 2021.

This announcement follows the approval of Symphony’s d2p anti-bacterial bread bags by the FDA in the US in February 2020, and after Eurofins Laboratories in August 2020 and Unicamp in September 2020 proved the anti-viral efficacy of polyethylene film made with Symphony’s d2pAM technology.
